https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=738369 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=738369#c0 Summary: canon LiDE 50 scanner (genesys driver) not supported anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hpj@urpla.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=468757) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=468757) yast2 log User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 After upgrade to 12.1, the canon scanner isn't supported anymore. Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04a9:2213 Canon, Inc. CanoScan LiDE 50/LiDE 35/LiDE 40 For some reason, the yast module to configure the scanner finds two devices, one scanner "not configured" with the proper ids, and a genesys device without a proper device. A mix of the two devices as one would be much more attracting.. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. attach a similar scanner 2. run yast scanner 3. Actual Results: no scanner available Expected Results: scanner is functional -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

All what YaST can do is to activate the driver in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf but YaST cannot fix it when a driver is activated but then the driver fails to detect the scanner device which happens in your case. In this case YaST shows it as in your attachment #468758 a not configured scanner and a driver which does not detect a scanner. To find out why the driver fails to detect the scanner in your case you need to provide SANE debug messages as described at "Trouble-Shooting (Debugging)" in http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_Scanners -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

After building and installing libmtp 1.1.2 from Factory, the issue dissolved. Well, I built/installed sane-backends-git20120116 before, but the problem persisted, but after upgrading libmtp, it's working fine. Reinstalling the distributed backend version didn't change the situation, hence debian is right, libmtp is the culprit. I built this stuff here: home:frispete:sane It might be a good idea to update that package for 11.4 and 12.1. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Updating libmtp9, sane-backends, and sane-backends-autoconfig from your repository seems to make my Canon LiDE 110 work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
