I found the reason, why I couldn't see it: ###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: linux### title Memory Test (memtest86+) -- openSUSE 11.0 - Memory Test (memtest86+) kernel (hd0,6)/boot/memtest.bin See: this title is so abstruse, that it's not even funny anymore, and way to long to fit inside the 1024 pixel limit (vga=792). Thus the progress indicator was drawn outside the screen.
