[Bug 1044727] New: screen resolution off-by-2 on Raspberry Pi 3: 1922x1200
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1044727 Bug ID: 1044727 Summary: screen resolution off-by-2 on Raspberry Pi 3: 1922x1200 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: aarch64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sbrabec@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 729248 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=729248&action=edit dmesg, hwinfo and Xorg.0.log I have a Raspberry Pi 3 and Dell U2410 display. I downloaded current Raspberry Pi 3 image openSUSE-Leap42.2-ARM-XFCE-raspberrypi3.aarch64-2017.02.02-Build1.69.raw.xz and ran Online Update afterwards. When booting starts, bootloader and Grub runs in the correct resolution 1920x1200. But once openSUSE starts to boot, system switches to a resolution 1922x1200, forcing the display to downscale. Also X remains running in that resolution. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Why do you believe the monitor runs in 1922x1200 mode? I can't find any proof for this claim in any logfile or output you've provided.
As I understand it, the monitor reports 1922x1200: (In reply to Stanislav Brabec from comment #2)
But the display OSD shows that, and it causes visual artifacts.
But it seems that every component things that 1920x1200 is used. Probably only the vc4 driver or the GPU itself fails to set it correctly. You wrote that you upgraded to 42.3. Can you try to boot with kernel from 42.2 and with kernel from Tumbleweed? I think experimenting with different kernels is the easiest way to narrow down what and where may be broken. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
