https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=406636 Summary: Installation of 64bit System fails (MSI K9N Neo V2) Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alexander.koenig@koenig-a.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- 64 bit installation system for openSUSE 11.0 does not work, it hangs at boot with driver installation. The hardware is the same as reported for the equivalent problem on openSUSE 10.3 in bug 358347. Unlike for 10.3 the boot process continues always beyond "Loading basic drivers" and terminates repeatable at the same position (with 10.3 this appeared to be somewhat random) Please see attached four screenshots: - Console 1 booting with standard kernel - Console 4 booting with standard kernel - Console 1 booting with safe settings or no ACPI - Console 4 booting with safe settings or no ACPI -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

so it works properly if you enable HPET? Yes, I can boot into the installation system and everything appears to work fine until it enters the partitioning/formatting step. This consistently always crashes. Since I need to install the 64bit system on a free 11GB partition of my running system I could not try "green field" partitioning. So unfortunately I am still not able to install.
If you later plug a USB device in after boot, what happens? I plugged a webcam into the running installation system. <Alt>F4 console shows that it was recognized. However, I get a warning "cannot enumerate device at hub...". This warning seems to be the last message before abort when I try to boot into the installation system with webcam plugged in.
