[Bug 414148] New: Missing support of special characters in filenames on automounted vfat file system
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=414148 Summary: Missing support of special characters in filenames on automounted vfat file system Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mark.weinem@alumni.uni-due.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- This is with openSUSE 11.0, seen with the 32bit and 64bit versions. There are no special characters (german umlauts) in file names on automounted vfat file systems on USB flash drives. One cannot open the files or change the files names because the system reports: "file ... does not exist" Below is the output of the mount command: # mount /dev/sdb1 on /media/NO_NAME type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In which application aren't these characters correct? Does it work with ls?
I'm sure this is a problem with KDE 4.x But as the file system is not mounted correctly (by KDE's device manager or maybe HAL??) it does not work with any application, not with the KDE tools and not with command line tools. I have seen the same issue on another KDE-4.x-based Linux distribution, running KDE 4.1. Many thanks for investigating and sorry for reporting this as an openSUSE 11.1 bug (this is with openSUSE 11.0). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
