I guess my computer (Intel 1.6GHz) is simply too slow then and I was lacking the patience. When directly jumping to page 33 after starting evince, the page shows up after about 200 seconds of freeze, also clicking on the X in the application shows the gnome "This App is not responsible" dialog thing. Still, it would be nice if this loading speed could be improved, as adobe does it in an instant. For example, image on page 33 is created by 168666 such small parts and that is not very common :). Therefore this is more feature for upstream than bug for downstream, I will report it into poppler's bugzilla, we will see if someone from poppler developers want look into that efectivity problem.
