http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559029 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559029#c0 Summary: kernel hangs at shutdown on ACER TM800 + APIC call trace Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gilles.sabourin@free.fr QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=329895) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=329895) Hardware informations from hwinfo command User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; fr) Presto/2.2.15 Version/10.10 kernel hangs (hardware lockup). This does not happen when booting with acpi=off parameter. I have a look at kernel boot messages and I get a call trace related to APIC : <4>[ 0.007184] ------------[ cut here ]------------ <4>[ 0.007202] WARNING: at /usr/src/packages/BUILD/kernel-default-2.6.31.5/linux-2.6.31/arch/x86/kernel/apic/apic.c:247 native_apic_write_dummy+0x53/0x70() <4>[ 0.007208] Hardware name: TravelMate 800 <4>[ 0.007212] Modules linked in: <4>[ 0.007219] Pid: 0, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.31.5-0.1-default #1 <4>[ 0.007224] Call Trace: <4>[ 0.007257] [<c02082aa>] try_stack_unwind+0x17a/0x1a0 <4>[ 0.007268] [<c020706c>] dump_trace+0x6c/0x130 <4>[ 0.007277] [<c0207e58>] show_trace_log_lvl+0x58/0x80 <4>[ 0.007287] [<c0207ea6>] show_trace+0x26/0x40 <4>[ 0.007297] [<c05ffa8f>] dump_stack+0x79/0x91 <4>[ 0.007308] [<c024f2b8>] warn_slowpath_common+0x78/0xc0 <4>[ 0.007318] [<c024f321>] warn_slowpath_null+0x21/0x40 <4>[ 0.007327] [<c021d8e3>] native_apic_write_dummy+0x53/0x70 <4>[ 0.007337] [<c0216e9c>] intel_init_thermal+0xbc/0x220 <4>[ 0.007346] [<c0216207>] mce_intel_feature_init+0x17/0x70 <4>[ 0.007359] [<c0213acf>] mce_cpu_features+0x1f/0x60 <4>[ 0.007368] [<c05fb838>] mcheck_init+0x155/0x1a5 <4>[ 0.007382] [<c05f94a2>] identify_cpu+0x239/0x248 <4>[ 0.007394] [<c08b3158>] identify_boot_cpu+0xd/0x23 <4>[ 0.007403] [<c08b334e>] check_bugs+0x16/0x139 <4>[ 0.007416] [<c08abcbe>] start_kernel+0x35a/0x37b <4>[ 0.007425] [<c08ab087>] i386_start_kernel+0x87/0x9f <4>[ 0.007446] ---[ end trace a7919e7f17c0a725 ]--- <6>[ 0.007451] CPU0: Thermal monitoring enabled (TM1) <6>[ 0.007471] Performance Counters: <6>[ 0.007476] no APIC, boot with the "lapic" boot parameter to force-enable it. <6>[ 0.007480] no hardware sampling interrupt available. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch opensuse 11.2 2. Quit openSUSE 11.2 3. Actual Results: kernel exhibits a hardware lockup, with flashing CAPS LOCK LED I had no problem related to ACPI so far with this 6 years old laptop, on openSUSE. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
