[Bug 559619] New: pm-hibernate: display may enter to standby just after resume
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559619 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559619#c0 Summary: pm-hibernate: display may enter to standby just after resume Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: mvyskocil@novell.com ReportedBy: sbrabec@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- It seems that all packages in the display chain lack any support for hibernation. It causes that computer may enter to display sleep just after resume. It seems to be a bit confusing. How to reproduce: 1. Set display standby to 1 minute 2. sleep 120 ; pm-hibernate 3. Do not touch the computer during next 120 seconds 4. Wake-up the computer Current result: Display wakes up for the resume process and then goes to standby again Expected result: most probably running display, at least on the default desktop system. Possible fixes: Tell X about hibernate/resume and reset standby counter to 0 after resume or generate fake input event at the end of the resume sequence. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is it also reproducable without X.Org running, i.e. having booted into runlevel 3? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559619 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559619#c3 --- Comment #3 from Stanislav Brabec <sbrabec@novell.com> 2009-12-07 14:51:40 CET --- Created an attachment (id=331358) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=331358) Xorg.0.log This is probably related to X. If the whole hibernate/resume process runs without any key press, X seems to not get any information that it should wake up. I did not test this problem in runlevel 3, but I guess that virtual console has a different event mechanism. Note that this is really a minor problem, easy to work-around, only a bit confusing. Pressing any wakes X. This problem can be reproduced only sometimes. I don't have proper Xorg.0.log yet. Here is a log if this problem did NOT appear. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Stanislav, Stefan - what do you think? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Let's wait for the next ocurrence of the problem. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
