[Bug 274064] New: Please reenable system update in running system
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274064 Summary: Please reenable system update in running system Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 3plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: locilka@novell.com ReportedBy: holler@nefkom.info QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Until yast2-update-2.15.8 in Alpha3 one was able to do a yast2 update in running system. Since 2.15.10 there is no icon for System Update in YaST's first screen. Running yast2 update from command line leads to message that upgrading in running system is not supported. Running yast2 update with the 2.15.8 version with inst-source factory and of course toggling yast2-update to "keep" does it for me without any failures. So please reenable this feature. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274064 locilka@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |holler@nefkom.info ------- Comment #1 from locilka@novell.com 2007-05-14 05:31 MST ------- What exactly are you trying to do? Updating 10.2 to 10.3 can't be supported but updating 10.3 Alpha X to 10.3 Alpha Y should be. Please, check your /etc/SuSE-release file what your system pretends to be ;) Please, attach YaST logs (directory /var/log/YaST/) as usual for YaST-related bugs. Not having an icon for a "System Update" tool is actually a new feature for avoiding user problems when this tool is used in a wrong way. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274064 ------- Comment #2 from holler@nefkom.info 2007-05-14 06:52 MST ------- I want to update my system from factory day <n> to factory day <n + x>. Please look at #246389 and #274159. I _know_ how to do an update as described in comment #28 in #246389. But at least for me, Adrian Schröter and many others who know how to fix a "user problem" the old version is a very comfortable one. Adrian: Have you changed a FACTORY source to use "openSUSE FACTORY Extra" name or something similar? Anyway, this could be fixed by comparing the versions, but I can't be sure anymore whether the product being installed matches the already installed one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

On the other hand this doesn't solve the conflict that you can see in this bug: Installed (from): "show":"openSUSE 10.3" Update source (to): "show":"openSUSE FACTORY Extra 10.3" Update evaluates that as two different products and refuses to update.
