Hello,
Hi @Andreas,
Thank you for the great new Leap-Distro 15.4!
Thank you too for testing it and giving feedback :)
While installing openSUSE-Leap-15.4-NET-x86_64-Build130.2-Media.iso (over an existing Leap-15.3), In the "Disk" Menu, an interesting thing happened:
I first did choose "Expert Partitioning/current Proposal". It proposed to make sda3 my root and to format it. I changed it: sda4 shall be root and formatted. [ok] sd3 shall be /home and not be formatted. It was not possible to select "not format but mount" - so I choose "not format and not mount". [error?]
It allows you not format but mount it when the filesystem supports mount[1]. @Ancor, do you think something is wrong there?
When I clicked "continue", the partitioning summary said it would nonetheless format sda3. [error]
I have tried to reproduce the scenario by running the openSUSE-Leap-15.4-NET-x86_64-Build130.2-Media installer in a virtual machine with openSUSE-Tumbleweed already installed. In my case, summary tells "Delete partition /dev/vda2" after selecting "Do not format device". Attaching YaST logs[2] and asking @Ancor for more info.
Then I went back to be beginning, chose "Expert Partitioning/existing Partitions" and could select my formatting wishes:
Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sda1 2048 4208639 4206592 2G 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda2 4208640 54540287 50331648 24G 83 Linux /dev/sda3 133306368 468860927 335554560 160G 83 Linux /dev/sda4 * 54540288 133305912 78765625 37.6G 83 Linux
Everything worked fine - even the users home directories were kept. Great!
Great!
cu Andi
