[Bug 351913] New: latest mandatory update: system no longer boots
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=351913 Summary: latest mandatory update: system no longer boots Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jjb@bcc.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Sun X4200 openSuSE 10.3 with the latest updates The system goes through BIOS, POST, then fails to boot. Nothing but a lone cursor on the screen. When booting from CD, using "Boot from Hard Drive", the system shows "Booting from local disk...", then dies. In rescue mode, I find there is no corruption of any disk partitions. I believe this is the result of the latest update. The system was running great up until Thursday, January 3rd. Today I rebuilt the entire system from CD, downloaded the latest updates, and was able to reproduce the problem a second time.
