[Bug 907693] New: Default bootloader GRUB2 is not supported!?
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=907693 Bug ID: 907693 Summary: Default bootloader GRUB2 is not supported!? Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Like it, or not: The default boot loader in openSUSE 13.2 is GRUB2. Unfortunately the program is very complex and documentation is very poor at the same time. And SUSE adds in /usr/share/doc/packages/grub2/README.openSUSE: "There is not yet any support in openSUSE to configure and install grub2." "Currently, perl-Bootloader does not support grub2 as bootloader. Therefore you need to run the following after each kernel change: # grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg" Why leave the user alone with all that mess? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I guess it should simply be removed. /If/ we need README.openSUSE at all - it needs to document what is different from upstream. btrfs handling is the first candidate. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is this still valid at openSUSE 42.2?
Those who are able to read /usr/share/doc/packages/grub2/README.openSUSE will still find (grub2-2.02~beta2-87.1.x86_64): "There is not yet any support in openSUSE to configure and install grub2." "Currently, perl-Bootloader does not support grub2 as bootloader." -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is this still valid at openSUSE 42.2?
Those who are able to read /usr/share/doc/packages/grub2/README.openSUSE will still find (grub2-2.02~beta2-87.1.x86_64): "There is not yet any support in openSUSE to configure and install grub2." "Currently, perl-Bootloader does not support grub2 as bootloader."
Rather than making sarcastic comments, maybe you could actually update the metadata for the bug instead? Marking as Leap 42.2 as bug is still present NOTE this is a DOCUMENTATION bug in the grub2 package, README.openSUSE file, not an actual problem. You can configure grub2 using yast bootloader perl-Bootloader is no more. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Those who are able to read /usr/share/doc/packages/grub2/README.openSUSE Well those who are able to read _and_ have Leap 42.2 installed.

Marking as Leap 42.2 as bug is still present
Other bugzillas specifically insist on keeping the version where the problem first had occurred. (In reply to Richard Bos from comment #4)
Is this still valid at openSUSE 42.2?
Instead of asking, Richard could have opened the /usr/share/doc/packages/grub2/README.openSUSE himself, I guess -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I will send a request to remove it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
