The devel project graphics already has blender-2.55.32862 which will make it difficult to work on 2.49b. The latest that you can check out is blender-2.55.32968 found in : http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/plater:/blender/openSUSE_11.... I've just checked blender-2.49b in factory and it has libopenal1-soft providing libopenal.so.1 as a dependency, where did you install your blender from? The new blender-2.5x doesn't support the old plugins it now uses python3 for addons but you can submit it to graphics if you want but if it depends on blender-2.49b it won't build. I'm not a graphics project maintainer, I only maintain blender and openCOLLADA. I'm not quite sure where yet but I think it's %{_datadir}/blender/2.55/scripts Give me quick step by step instructions on a quick test to see if the blender-plugins-primstar's working and I'll try changing the directory first, strace it and if that doesn't work find out what replaces it from blender devs. They're still busy with the final usability transfer from 2.49b and maybe it will work in a later svn version. I'm assuming that you have another application that you interchange data with. From the description in the spec file "creation of Second Life content such as sculptured primitives" what is "Second Life content" it's not an easy thing to google given it's ambiguity (many possible interpretations). Sorry that I have to ask all these questions but I'm sure the functionality of a popular plugin wouldn't be lost. As for libopenal1-soft we have a situation where there seems to be a bug. The factory package says it's maintained in Devel:openSUSE:Factory which is where things without a devel project end up but there's a copy in multimedia:libs where I have write access. rpm -qi which should give a similar output to zypper if say's the package isn't installed but zypper works with it and rpm -ql which lists contents, works. I don't think this bug is blenders fault, there's something not right with openal, it looks like it belongs in multimedia so I suppose I should try to fix it. I've left the bug as assigned but please explain or point me to a url so as I can find out what the plugin actually achieves. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=652536 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=652536#c10 --- Comment #10 from Mathias Homann <admin@eregion.de> 2010-11-11 09:24:41 UTC --- about "Second Life content"... Second Life is a virtual world where almost all content that you see is user generated. Every object that you see "in world" is made up from basic building blocks called primitives, or "prims". A prim has a shape, a color, and a texture (or several). The shape can either be a simple geometric shape like a box, a sphere, a tube, or such, or it can be a "sculptie". A sculpted prim has TWO textures. One defines the pixels on the surface, like the regular texture does on a regular prim... the other defines how the corresponding point on the surface is dislocated from the "bounding box". With sculpted prims you can create complex shapes without using a horrendous number of primitives. That is essential, because there is a limit to the number of primitives that you can use on any given piece of virtual land, the maximum per server being 15000 prims... For example, imagine a simple bookshelf, two vertical and lets say four horizontal boards, nothing else. With regular "prims" you would need six prims to build that; with a sculpted prim you can do that in one. Now extrapolate that on building a whole village... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could you somehow test this file to see if it has all of the functionality of the original. The blender to collada export doesn't work on armatures atm and some animations cause a crash some blender examples I've exported as collada behave the same way as your original .dae and do nothing. Google-ling the .dae extension clearly shows it as a collada export file therefore you will, in the future, be able to exchange with "Second Life content" with blender-2.5x. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sculpties are a somewhat simpler thing than collada meshes, anyone can create them, and you need primstar for it to do it with blender. Collada meshes are ... "sculpties on steroids", will be generally available at some point in the future, and creation of mesh imports might even be limited to only a certain group of sl account holders... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
