jfyi, I can "fix" the dark screen via chvt to and from X11 server terminal. There were workarounds like that enabled by default in older distributions, maybe they fell off? This may be a missing piece in ACPI BIOS code, the proper fix could be a notification to X which can re-set up needed graphics parts. Maybe X-server already gets notified about LID. Or, if only older machines are affected, just adding a sysfs variable for broken machines is enough. Here it is:
/etc/sysconfig/powersave/events: # Hint: switch_vt could be useful for the LID_OPEN event (replace ignore) # some graphic cards might need switching to a virtual terminal # and back to let the X-server recover properly EVENT_BUTTON_POWER="wm_shutdown" EVENT_BUTTON_SLEEP="suspend_to_disk" EVENT_BUTTON_LID_OPEN="ignore" EVENT_BUTTON_LID_CLOSED="screen_saver" Does this work? AFAIK, mobile team wants to move away from these configs (not sure). If not Dell 600/800 could be blacklisted to set this in a post-install script. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
