The nagios-nrpe package indeed misses a PreReq to netcfg. This is currently fixed in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/monitoring/ (this repo includes amongst others the latest nagios related packages) - and submitted to openSUSE:Factory for inclusion in 11.3. I change the product to openSUSE 11.3 - as this bug doesn't happen always on 11.2 (I didn't see it during a normal installation) - and like to close it as FIXED for the openSUSE 11.3 release. Two questions: 1) Can you please check, if the package in server:monitoring fixes your problem? 2) What do you think: is this worth an official update for 11.2 ? In larger networked installations (often using nagios) this bug can induce a good amount of debugging-work though. .. And considering we will keep using 11.2 for some time it would be nice to not having to circumvent the default repositories for nrpe :) I'll be testing it this week at work. Yes: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Sat Mar 6 20:59:09 UTC 2010 - chris@computersalat.de - cleanup subpackages o nagios-nrpe is default package and provides NRPE daemon obsoletes: client o nagios-plugins-nrpe provides the check plugin to be installed with the nagios host obsoletes: server [...] So an "zypper in nagios-nrpe" should automatically deinstall the nagios-nrpe-client package.
