[Bug 658494] New: Bug related to btrfs. Cannot use the system with btrfs anymore
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=658494 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=658494#c0 Summary: Bug related to btrfs. Cannot use the system with btrfs anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: silviu_marin-caea@otpbank.ro QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=404146) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=404146) See the kernel error at 13:08 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20101105 Firefox/4.0b7 After the last factory update (2-3 days ago, I think it was when M4 was released), the computer could not run anymore because the kernel was giving an error related to btrfs. I have a /boot partition with ext4 and a / partition with btrfs. I use a separate /boot because I don't know if GRUB can boot off btrfs (can it?). So I have decided to install M4 from scratch, on btrfs, from KDE LiveCD. It also gave a kernel error. I'll attach /var/log/messages. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot KDE LiveCD 11.4M4 2. Try to install on / partition with btrfs 3. Kernel error in /var/log/messages Actual Results: Kernel error Expected Results: Normal installation -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

as of GRUB 1.99~rc2, released just today, grub is able to boot from btrfs -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
