For the upgrade there was a kernel upgrade, as well as some other packages. I upgraded all, and after the reboot, I can not reproduce the problem. It works as expected. Really strange. I'm pasting the winbind log for the time I was switching the versions, but it produces one and the same errors both with the old and the new version, so I do not know if it is related. About the vmware server - I did not restart it while I had the problem, so maybe that was the problem.
