I tried to invoke the rule by either a) loading mptctl (modprobe mptctl) b) /usr/bin/udevadm test /devices/virtual/misc/mptctl on my Opensuse 13.1 box, but no error logged in /var/log/messages. The previous RUN was using an external app (modprobe) to load the module. kmod replaces modprobe because kmod offers both the command line app, plus a shared library which can be use, like in our case in udev.
