[Bug 732644] New: yast2 is not startable from KDE kickstart anymore
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=732644 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=732644#c0 Summary: yast2 is not startable from KDE kickstart anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: melchiaros@aol.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=463965) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=463965) logs - yast2, kdm, warn, many more. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 In a user KDE session that runs for several hours, I was not able to call yast2 from KDE kickstart anymore(prior calls have success). The yast2 mouse cursor icon jumps up and down for it´s 30sek and than happens nothing. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install openSUSE12.1 final(KDE default) 2.Run a KDE for several hours 3.See that calling yast2 from KDE kickstart fails out of nothing. Actual Results: KDE kickstart fails to call yast2 from a user session. There is no popup legitimation window, only the yast2 jumping mouse cursor for 30sec and than nothing. -> normal mouse cursor. Expected Results: KDE kickstart should be able to call yast2 from user session at any time. Here it was like that, that I was able to call yast2 several times before in the same session with success and after some hours not anymore. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Apparently, you can as I'm getting this too. :( So, can you suggest some ways to diagnose the cause? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It has been an annoyance for some time. Restarting generally will resolve the issue but /tmp files may also be implicated. Recreating the .kde4 profile doesn't seem to affect the issue. I was trying to install a package, got a file not found (repo had not been refreshed). So I wanted to launch yast repo management and set the repo to autorefresh, but could not launch. I tried the app launcher icon, which asked for root, I entered, then nothing. Tried xdg-su -c "yast2", same result, asks for pass, nothing. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help with information gathering. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
