[Bug 235163] New: linux-ha hb_gui fails to create a place when there is no resource configured yet
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235163 Summary: linux-ha hb_gui fails to create a place when there is no resource configured yet Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: reitenbach@rapideye.de QAContact: qa@suse.de In the document SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10: Exploring the High Availability Storage Foundation, it is stated to submit bugs here. I followed above mentioned document, and configured initial high-availability via yast. Then I started the hb_gui. The first thing I wanted to do is to add a place, before I configure other resouces. Therefore I right clicked the Constraints, in the left list, and choose "Add new item". Then I changed the "item type" from "native" to "place" and clicked OK button. Then I defined a name for the place, left the resource empty, and the score at 100. Then pressing the ok button, produces the following output at the command line: hb_gui Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/hb_gui", line 1536, in on_add_item [Field("id",_("ID"),"place_",None, False), File "/usr/bin/hb_gui", line 206, in kvbox kv[fields[row].key] = combo.child.get_text() AttributeError: 'gtk.Entry' object has no attribute 'child' the "Add place Constraint" Window is only closable, but I cannot save the place. Expected behaviour: Either: - I should be able to create places without resources, and add resouces later. Or: - I should not be able to create places when there is no resouce configured. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235163 ------- Comment #2 from reitenbach@rapideye.de 2007-01-17 07:58 MST ------- now, with the patch applied the following happens: with no resource entered, and then clicking the OK button a window pops up, stating that a place can only be configured with a resource. Then I just entered a resouce (some random letters), and then I was able to create the place, with the bogus resource. The resource did not showed up in the resource list. Also the place is not removable. Right clicking on the place and Deleting it pops up a window stating "return None" and I can click OK. also creation of other resources is now not possible anymore. so this does not fix the issue. I should not be able to enter a random string in the resource field and press OK then. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235163 ------- Comment #3 from xwhu@novell.com 2007-01-17 10:10 MST ------- All issues you describe don't exist in my SLES 10 environment, I can delete it, and create other resources. However, I agree that a place constrain with bogus resource is annoying. Here's the another patch, which forbids the creation of constrains when there's no definition of resources. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
