https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211225 Summary: hwinfo reports random sysfs shit as driver name Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: PowerPC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: olh@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de unfortunately, random hardware drivers report random driver names via sysfs. Those names have no relationship to the real module names. /sys/bus/pci/drivers/AMD_IDE INITRD_MODULES="qla2xxx AMD_IDE" As a result, the system will not boot because the driver is missing in the initrd. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I'm not sure why those names end up in the module list now, however. Thomas, is this related to the usb module changes? BTW, since 10.2 there is a new 'driver_modules' list that has the correct module names. Maybe we should use that one? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211225 ------- Comment #2 from fehr@novell.com 2006-10-10 03:29 MST ------- To see why this AMD_IDE is there I would need to look at the log file. About the 'driver_modules' fine with me but is this value available in ycp code. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211225 ------- Comment #6 from fehr@novell.com 2006-10-10 04:30 MST ------- The logs show that the disk contains "AMD_IDE" as entry for "driver", therefore it is added to the modules list. Question is why this entry is there if this is not a module. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
