[Bug 1187850] New: plasma5 & wayland artifacts after the recent "full" wayland switch
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1187850 Bug ID: 1187850 Summary: plasma5 & wayland artifacts after the recent "full" wayland switch Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: jslaby@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: christophe@krop.fr, fvogt@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- After sr#902488, plasma & wayland are defunct in these aspects: * thunderbird flickers like mad -- when moving mouse over the window, it is switching between old and new window buffer * selection buffer doesn't work between firefox and xterm (select and paste with middle-button). * clementine is not shown in the tray. This fixes all those: * open a terminal * export GDK_BACKEND=x11 * clementine & * thunderbird & * firefox & After this all the apps behave as they should. I am not sure if to report this against the separate components (and leaving this as a meta bug)? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So when you type and a song changes, your keystrokes are lost in this window. GDK_BACKEND setting doesn't help here. * psi-plus (IM client) thinks nobody moves with mouse/types, so switches to N/A state after few minutes. Will test GDK_BACKEND yet. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

After sr#902488, plasma & wayland are defunct in these aspects: * thunderbird flickers like mad -- when moving mouse over the window, it is switching between old and new window buffer
Running thunderbird in a weston window (no GDK env overridden) doesn't exhibit the problem. (In reply to Jiri Slaby from comment #1)
* psi-plus (IM client) thinks nobody moves with mouse/types, so switches to N/A state after few minutes. Will test GDK_BACKEND yet.

* psi-plus (IM client) thinks nobody moves with mouse/types, so switches to N/A state after few minutes. Will test GDK_BACKEND yet.
GDK_BACKEND doesn't help here.
QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb does, of course. Another problems: * dolphin drag&drop into firefox window (google photos) doesn't work. * dolphin drag&drop with shift still asks "what to do: copy; move; link?" Both problems fixed by QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb. So in sum, the applications I use every day are xterm, firefox, thunderbird, clementine, and dolphin. And sadly *none* of them work with this "full" wayland. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
