[Bug 222502] New: yast system update tries several times to reinstall some packages
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222502 Summary: yast system update tries several times to reinstall some packages Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 2 Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nine@detonation.org QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When testing openSUSE 10.2 beta 2 I added the 10.1 packman repository to see if maybe some packages would work on the newer version. After a 10.2 repository got available I changed to that and tried to reinstall the (non-working) packages with yast system update. It worked sort of, but did show real weird behavior. After the second package (kdegames3-card) the progress bar started over and over again, but the package list did not change anymore. y2logRPM showed that yast was downloading and installing the same packages over and over with rpm warnings that these packages were already installed. I'm attaching the y2logs -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222502 ------- Comment #3 from nine@detonation.org 2006-11-19 12:14 MST ------- As I said, I reinstalled these packages after switching packman source from 10.1 to 10.2. Maybe rpm or yast get confused because the packages are named equal but are not the same? OTOH I just tried reinstalling some packages in yast -i. For every package there are two failed attempts and the third one succeeds. But I think it does at least not re-download the package. It's hard to tell. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222502 ------- Comment #5 from nine@detonation.org 2006-11-20 07:28 MST ------- Ok. Are your sure, that yast does not re-download the packages? I'm not sure about what I saw. Another question remains: why has the log window been stuck at kdegames3-card when yast tried to install other packages? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
