https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214215 Summary: Installation problems with X Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: i386 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Keywords: Install Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: dnamaku@dnainternet.net QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com SuSe Installation didn't find my Graphic Card. I didn't get X running after graphical installing. My computer is Fujitsu Siemens SCENIC T and it has integrated Intel's Graphic Card. I have installed ATI Radeon 9250 Card to it and I use it. Win XP found my ATI, but SuSe didn't. I had to copy the xorg.conf file of Ubuntu to SuSe and I got KDE running, but it freezes after some time and I have to turn off computer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Ouch! Driving a PCI card has always been problematic, when the onboard Intel chip is still active. Any chance to disable it completely in the BIOS? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214215 ------- Comment #7 from dnamaku@dnainternet.net 2006-10-21 13:59 MST ------- I cannot disable Intel Graphic Card. I can only change between AGP and PCI. I found that there is APM and ACPI enabled in BIOS. Is this the reason of my freezing problems in normal boot? Will I have to update BIOS? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

When I start with safety settings, HAL daemon did't start and in KDE I got error message about dbus daemon. When I tried start dbus daemon SuSe said it's already running. I saw that acpid is disabled with safe settings. Maybe acpid is my problem? I found second bug too. Sounds are not running in KDE. I get it running with Kubuntu and Win XP in this same hardware. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Try to configure it with "sax2 -r -c 1" to verify that we have at least a workaround. SaX2 tries to configure a dualcard setup, which seems to fail in most cases with Intel devices. :-( I think the freezing issue needs to be investigated seperately. Also the sound issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
