I have the same error, although I don't have any trouble with the keyboard, mouse and display. I discovered it by spoting an error during boot : Failed services in runlevel 5: kbd
I think it affect the available fonts however. Sometimes the Gnome interfaces seems to show the Tahoma 10 font I have configured, but most of the time, it looks like it's the defaut (FreeType ?) font that is used. In comment #35 I wrote:

Have you tried to stop your system from booting the init-scripts in parallel? Try (I have already done so) to set RUN_PARALLEL in the sysconfig-editor to "no".
If you want to set it manually you can directly edit /etc/sysconfig/boot.
After that, restart and look what happens. This is not to say that this solves the issue, but this is an attempt to reduce the amount of possibilities that could cause problems.
I've just tried that, and the "Failed services in runlevel 5: kbd" message is no more in my /var/log/boot.msg
Is disabling RUN_PARALLEL the recommended workaround until a real solution is found ? Can doing this have some undesirable side effects ? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
