Problem is that the driver that is written in xorg.conf does not work as expected. The liveCD autodetection uses the "nsc" driver. /var/log/Xorg.0.log ends with:

Workaround: When I login as root and manually change "nsc" to "nv" and restart xdm, things work as expected (resulting xorg.conf file is attached).
