https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=669235 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=669235#c0 Summary: Scanner in HP-Deskjet-F4500 is not detected by sane. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Milestone 6 of 6 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: EagleScreen@gmail.com QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b10) Gecko/20110121 Firefox/4.0b10 I have a HP-Deskjet-F4500 with scanner which works with HPLIP. On OpenSUSE 11.3, skanlite & xsane detect the scanner and both can use it with no problems. On OpenSUSE 11.4 M6, skanlite neither xsane don't detect the scanner. The printer part works well in 11.4, the problem is the scanner detection. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install HP-Deskjet-F4500 with Hplip. 2. Try to scan with skanlite or xsane. 3. Both will give error about no scanner detected. Actual Results: Both: xsane & skanlite give error about no scanner detected. Expected Results: xsane or skanlite should detect the scanner and be able to use it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

What results "grep hpaio /etc/sane.d/dll.conf" ? What results "scanimage -L" when you run it as normal user and as root? Does it work when you run xsane or skanlite as root? As root run "hp-check -r" and attach the file hp-check.log as MIME type "Text/plain" to this bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Alternatively use the YaST scanner module to activate this driver manually. Usually the activation of the hpaio scanner driver happens via some special udev magic. I don't know why the magic didn't work in your particular case but usually it works so that I close the issue as "worksforme". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
