[Bug 1208160] New: Enable memtest86+ version 6.10 in grub again
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208160 Bug ID: 1208160 Summary: Enable memtest86+ version 6.10 in grub again Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.4 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: ecsos@schirra.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 864836 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=864836&action=edit Patch for 20_memtest86+ With version 6.10 of memtest86+ memtest should now also work with efi. So is it possible to re-enable this in grub and here in particular in the file 20_memtest86+? I have made a change. You attachment. But am not sure if completely correct. Memtest now appears in the boot menu again. It can also be started. However, after exiting with ESC, the computer does not automatically reboot. Possibly an error in the script? Or a normal behavior of memtest? After a hard reset the PC and the desktop starts without problems. Could someone take care of this issue and re-enable memtest in the boot menu, please? PS: Also applies to Leap 15.5 and Tumbleweed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The OS is not supposed to ship anything outside the /usr tree. Those scripts have to take care of copying the binary to eg. /boot if needed. Other bootloaders may do different things in their packages. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hm. I don't understand this. I have only taken the 20_memtest86+ file from grub package and remove the "disabeled code" and change the rest. So. This package and other like that are in grub2 package under Base:System. I have nothing change and nothing move to an other location. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
