[Bug 655355] New: Latest kernel upgrade breaks hostap_pci on the Thinkpad X30
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655355 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655355#c0 Summary: Latest kernel upgrade breaks hostap_pci on the Thinkpad X30 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wolf@womaro.ch QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101027 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.12 The upgrade to kernel 2.6.27.54 breaks a previously working X30 Prism 2.5 WPA WIFI connection. On load of the kernel module hostap_pci the kernel starts to loop with an error message "_callback_rate_limit: xxxxxx calls suppressed" where xxxxxx is a number in the order of 360000 or higher. Unfortunately I don't remember the previous kernel version - positive that it was 2.6.27.xx where xx < 54. The orinoco_pci module loads fine, but cannot do WPA. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot Thinkpad X30 with hostap_pci not disabled in /etc/modprobe.d/hostap 2. as soon as the hostap_pci driver is loaded the system is looping 3. Press power-off button to recover. Actual Results: System is looping. Expected Results: Should either load driver and work (or refuse to load driver). The firmware of the Prism 2.5 interface has been updated to 1.1.1 for the primary and 1.8.2 for the secondary firmware. None of the current kernels will work with hostap_pci (tried: PAE, vanilla, generic). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
