[Bug 380665] Packagekit: Change "Software updates" to "Software update configuration"
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=380665 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=380665#c9 --- Comment #9 from Atri Bhattacharya <badshah400@gmail.com> 2010-06-07 11:36:43 UTC --- (In reply to comment #6)
The main issue here is not the names themselves; it's that the two items appear at the same place.
I'm actually thinking that the "Update system" one could just be hidden, since people should start it from the notification icon when there are updates. Does that sound reasonable?
There is a problem with using the notification icon always, namely that the checking of updates happens at some pre-defined time automatically. If a user wants to manually check for updates, then the control centre button for "Update system" is required (of course also from the yast interface). So I think it might not be a good idea to do away with this button entirely. In view of this, it might be better to simply rename one of these two buttons to make it clearer. It might be better to remove the other buttons which I don't see of being of any importance, namely the "software sources" and the packagetkit "Add/remove software". -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
