[Bug 561103] New: Printer driver for Epson Stylus Color 200 in driver database needs updating
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561103 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561103#c0 Summary: Printer driver for Epson Stylus Color 200 in driver database needs updating Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: jcarricksmith@gmail.com QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.1; Linux) KHTML/4.1.3 (like Gecko) SUSE After installing openSuse 11.1 I could not print to my Epson Stylus 200. I found that the printer driver in OpenSuse is the mj500c but found that the www.linuxprinting.org site recommended the stcolor driver. Installed this and it worked. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. It seems that the mj500c driver has been replaced for a number of Epson Stylus printers by the stcolor driver. I am asking that the openSuse printer driver database is updated to the newer driver. Thanks. (I keep this old printer as the newer HP printers won't print envelopes easily because of the sharp bends in the paper path!) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think I should remove all those old and outdated "TurbolinuxJapanesePPDs". -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I value the fact that openSuse supports a wide range of hardware. It was one reason why I started using it. However there is no point in having out-of-date drivers in the distribution. So please replace them with more modern drivers if they are available. Certainly the stcolor driver seems to be a general replacement for the older Stylus printers. Best wishes John -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

For one more reason to remove them all see http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=502656#c16 Therefore the bug here is fixed for openSUSE 11.2. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
