[Bug 1024024] New: xorg doesn't start after updating xf86-video-amdgpu
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1024024 Bug ID: 1024024 Summary: xorg doesn't start after updating xf86-video-amdgpu Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: randaltor@web.de QA Contact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- xorg-x11-server: 1.19.1-2.1 GPU: Radeon R7 260X After updating xf86-video-amdgpu from version 1.2.0-3.1 to 1.2.0-4.1 my system won't boot properly and hang showing only a white '_' character in the top left corner. Pressing ctrl+alt+f2 or any other f-key does for most boot-ups not switch to another "screen" and I can't also most time not login to any user-account. With all packages up-to-date, except xf86-video-amdgpu locked at 1.2.0-3.1, that's the output of 'sudo journalctl -b -p err': kernel: radeon 0000:01:00.0: Invalid PCI ROM header signature: expecting 0xaa55, got 0xffff kernel: platform gpio_ich.1.auto: failed to claim resource 0 kernel: Corrupted low memory at ffffa0398000fca0 (fca0 phys) = 00008600 kernel: Memory corruption detected in low memory kernel: kvm [9482]: vcpu0, guest rIP: 0xffffffff8b4647d2 unhandled rdmsr: 0x34 The only file I have manually changed is: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-device.conf Section "Device" Identifier "Radeon R7 260X" Option "DRI" "3" EndSection The other strange thing is, that when rebooting into a read-only snapshot from a broken system an affected by this bug - lightdm is not displayed and the boot process ends at the command prompt. From there I can log-in and execute `sudo snapper rollback'. After a reboot the system works again as expected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
