[Bug 585967] New: Milestone3 - YaST2 Add User won't accept text
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=585967 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=585967#c0 Summary: Milestone3 - YaST2 Add User won't accept text Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lee_matheson@hotmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100204 SUSE/3.5.8-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.8 This was in milestone3 (build 0475) but I can't add milestone3 to the bug report product version! In openSUSE-11.3 milestone3 , when using the LXDE desktop (but this may be true for other desktops) I was not able to add a new user under YaST2 User and Group Management. I selected add user but in the subsequent window it would not accept any text under add user name. When I ran YaST from run level 3, it worked in run level 3. Hence this appears to be a problem associated with the YaST2 desktop version. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.see above 2. 3. Actual Results: Text entry not accepted Expected Results: Should be able to add a user with YaST -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=585967 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=585967#c2 Lee Matheson <lee_matheson@hotmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |NEW Info Provider|lee_matheson@hotmail.com | --- Comment #2 from Lee Matheson <lee_matheson@hotmail.com> 2010-03-09 19:23:32 UTC --- This functionality to add a user works now for me in YaST. I note that this problem was encountered when using the LXDE desktop with the "nv" graphic driver. Originally, I had (as part of milestone3): lxde-common-branding-openSUSE-11.3-1.1.noarch lxde-common-0.5.0-4.1.noarch patterns-openSUSE-lxde-11.3-7.1.i586 pcmanfm-0.5.2-1.7.i586 pcmanfm-lang-0.5.2-1.7.noarch and no libfm. Later I updated to the proprietary nVidia graphic driver. I also updated from the repository: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/lxde/openSUSE_Factory/ per your recommendation, such that I now had: lxde-common-0.5.0-25.1.noarch patterns-openSUSE-lxde-11.3-7.1.i586 lxde-common-branding-openSUSE-11.3-20.2.noarch pcmanfm-lang-0.9.1alpha+git20100305-30.1.noarch pcmanfm-0.9.1alpha+git20100305-30.1.i586 libfm-0.1.1alpha+git20100305-6.1.i586 libfm0-0.1.1alpha+git20100305-6.1.i586 libfm-gtk0-0.1.1alpha+git20100305-6.1.i586 Either the updated graphic driver, of the various various LXDE updates to factory fixed this and other problems (Such as bug reports 586063 and 586064). Note I have only made updates from the LXDE factory (and am now using the proprietary nVidia graphic driver), and the problem has disappeared as I can now create a user. I am happy to close this bug report as resolved, although I confess (and apologize) that I can not point to the specific aspect the solved the problem. Given it now works, is there still any point in providing the requested logs? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The recommendation to update the LXDE repositories (factory) was not from you but from someone else. I'll try to install M3 as well and see. However, I agree that it could be closed (if I cannot reproduce it). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
