https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733224 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733224#c0 Summary: The GNOME shell extension gnome-shell-extension-native-window-placement cuts off the title(s) of the topmost window(s) in the overlay. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: grantbourque@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 "This GNOME Shell extension provides additional configurability for the window layout in the overview, including a mechanism similar to KDE4." -From the package description in Software Manager. This extension alters the layout of windows in the overlay. Comparison: Without the extension: http://i.imgur.com/vOcF4.png With the extension: http://i.imgur.com/s4ee2.png (Notice the LibreOffice Window in the top left) Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install gnome-shell-extension-native-window-placement from the openSUSE 12.1 repositories. 2. Reboot 3. Run "Advanced Settings" (or gnome-tweak-tool) 4. Enable the native window placement extension 5. Open some windows 6. Go to the overlay (Activities or superkey) Actual Results: Frequently the title of a window and some of the display of that a are cut-off at the top of the overlay. It will always happen for 1 fullscreen application, and usually beyond 3 or 4 open windows of any size will also cause at least one cut-off. Expected Results: The title should have not been cut-off, as the region for the overlay seems to end at a little under the overlay dock. Without the extension the title displays at the bottom of the windows, which has never caused a cut-off problem for me before, so that is probably the easiest way to fix the bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In the meanwhile the website https://extensions.gnome.org/ now serves easily installable extensions including the native-window-placement [1]. You could install the extension from there and this will ensure you get the latest version of the extension, which no longer has this issue. I am going to close this bug as RESOLVED -> UPSTREAM therefore. Please confirm if this works for you. Thanks!
