opensuse is following the development in the linux-wireless upstream project. Unfortunately I've no experience with this piece of HW. Maybe it would be better to ask in the linux-wireless mailing list. http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Support

There is a list of drivers in the linux-wireless upstream project that opensuse is following http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi, Does anyone know if the Huawei E160e usb modem will work with Open Suse 11.3?
In case it helps - I dont know about 160e, I only know E160G just works with Ubuntu 10 it uses network-manager (maybe networkmanager on suse?) It is the same as used for wifi. Open the applet and it detects the modem and guides you through setup.
I have an Asus PR050 Series laptop. What isp provide support for Linux to connect to the internet using a Huawei E160e modem?
If there is no data plan linked to the modem the open your the web browser and it should take you direct to the vendors online store. Internode sell the E160e with their NodePhone plan: http://www.internode.on.net/residential/broadband/3g_wireless/nodemobile_dat... They don't specify Linux on that page but I found that it works fine with Ubuntu 10.10. I just plugged it in and picked Australia and then Internode from the network manager. As for OpenSUSE, I'm not sure: http://lists.suse.com/opensuse-bugs/2010-09/msg02789.html -- Carlo Hamalainen http://carlo-hamalainen.net -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I've reopened this bug to track the effort to get the Huawei E160e running in openSUSE. According to the comments in [1,2] the connection here requires network-manager 0.8.1-1 and ppp 2.4.5 . Updated openSUSE 11.3 includes these packages. Fastest way to find out would be to boot the openSUSE 11.3 Live DVD .
