[Bug 384844] New: all updates have version 11.0

In order to have patch levels. Just for Klaus: That is still an open issue. We can't make patches require the previous versions, we can't make patches require the previous patchlevel, so we still need to define how to calculate patchlevel. However, having patches versioned in a incremental way (like we do IIRC), makes easy to calculate the major satisfied continuous patch, and that should be the patch level. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As we want to be upstream-compatible, we should _not_ map this release information to the 'release' property of the zypp patch object ! I'd recommend to leave the release part of the zypp patch object empty. If we ever re-release a patch, we should increase its version field. updateinfo.xml carries an <id>....</id> field for internal information (<title>... is the user-visible part). For computing the patch level, the 'order of external appearance' (when was the update publically visible) is important. Thats what the <issued data="..."/> field contains. I'll start an opensuse wiki page to document the updateinfo.xml format _as we use it_ now. Confirmed, but still the patch names contain also the numbers, is that intended? (no problem from my side, just want to avoid misunderstandings) product name in this case is "Marketing-Name" from the maintained-data database, basically free text, usually rather close to the label from the content file. This is not an identifier but clear text. Then we could use this field to determine if the patch is 'appropriate' for a system. But this is really up to Harald to decide if this is wanted or useful. For openSUSE 11.0, we have - openSUSE 11.0 DVD - openSUSE 11.0 FTP - ... and all have 'openSUSE 11.0' as the 'common core'.
