Screen gets covered with frequent vertical stripes. No matter, whether you boot to text console in init 3 mode, or to KDE in init 5. The stripes are b/w in init3, and green&white in init 5. In init 3 mode, if Ctrl-Alt-Del is pressed within several second after the stripes, PC is rebooted, otherwise PC freezes deadly. In init 5 mode, if Ctrl-F1 is pressed within several seconds, the text console is seen obscurely behind the green stripes, and there is a chance to reboot the pC with Ctrl-Alt-Del, if pressed promptly. After reboot by Ctrl-Alt-Del or by reset button, pc always continues to work stable with no single freeze, so the cold start is crucial to reproduce the bug. PC freezes with Sapphire HD 4850 card. With Nvidia cards, no freeze. The problem is absent in openSUSE 11.1 and newer Ubuntu 10.04, which both work perfectly stable. PC freezes with default openSUSE 11.2, openSUSE 11.2+update to factory Xorg and/or kernel, openSUSE 11.3 ms. 5 (both installed and booted from USB stick), Mandriva 2010.0. Arch is x86_64. The problem was seen on two different hardware configurations with the same video card. The problem exists with all video drivers tested, including raden, radeonhd and fglrx. However, since the pc freezes also in init 3 mode, those drivers are probably not to blame. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Take the pc with Sapphire HD 4850 video card. 2. Cold boot the pc. 3. wait for approx. 5 minutes.
