[Bug 772744] New: vm-install requires root, while original virt-manager vm creation code works fine as user
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772744 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772744#c0 Summary: vm-install requires root, while original virt-manager vm creation code works fine as user Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vuntz@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- In openSUSE, we patch virt-manager to use vm-install [1]. However, vm-install has to be run as root to work, while virt-manager can perfectly work fine as a user if libvirtd is configured correctly. This forces people to run virt-manager on openSUSE, which is really bad. We should fix this. [1] There must be a good reason for this (adding some features?). However, I'd really like to be able to tell virt-manager I want to use the original vm creation code. Maybe we could add a commandline switch for this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is in the Virtualization/virt-manager repo and also pushed out to Factory (when accepted). You will also need a new python-virtinst (same location) because I took a new upstream version of virt-manager. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
