This means there is a kernel module that breaks resume on your machine. You
can verify that by booting with init=/bin/bash and loading all of the modules
that are normally loaded on runlevel 5 before a test.
I think the most efficient way to find the offending module would be to boot
with init=/bin/bash and carry out a binary search through the set of modules
that are normally loaded.
That is, boot with init=/bin/bash and load 1/2 of the modules that are loaded
on runlevel 5, then test with "s2ram -f -a3". If that works, load 1/2 of the
remaining modules normally loaded on runlevel 5 and retest. Otherwise, boot
with init=/bin/bash and load 1/4 of the modules normally loaded on runlevel 5
and retest. By repeating this recursively you should be able to narrow the
problem down to a handful of modules (or even to a single one).
