COpying from email: My network with WinXp, Vista, Mac, OS/2, ecomstation and Linux computers have been running since Suse 8 correctly. As a Samba server works a Sitecom Storage Adapter (2P USB - LAN - 10/100 / Mbps) LN-350 According to the update on Suse 9 and 10.3 everything worked well. Only after the update to Suse 11.0, the server will be seen, but there is no access to the folder. This message appears The file or folder smb: // username @ IP/usb2.0_s_a1 does not exist I have everything with cifs and lan installed. I give in Konqueror :/lan or :/cifs get the Protocol is not supported. Do you mean that if you put lan:// or cifs:// in the URL field you get this message? Or is this a message that appears in addition to the "file or folder xxx does not exist" ? I suspect you mean that when you put "lan://" or "cifs://" in, and this part is correct. smb://... is the right way to do it. I still would like the info on what version of KDE you chose. I'm suspecting this is 3.5 if you did an upgrade. Copying next email response: I have the original version (KDE 3 and KDE 4) of the Suse 11.0 DVD installed. Not works. Then after the updates are the versions KDE 3.5.9 rel 49.1 and KDE 4.1.1 rel 38.1 installed. The entries are in Konqueror smb: / / lan: / / cifs: / / get the Protocol is not supported. KUBUNTU 8.04 installed , same problem. Then Mandriva PowerPack 2008 installed and access to the Samba server works. If it is version 3.5.9, please do this: rpm -q kdebase3-samba If there is no package like this installed, please install it and try again.
