https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226033 guru@unixtech.be changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |aj@novell.com ------- Comment #8 from guru@unixtech.be 2006-12-21 08:53 MST ------- Yes, sure, I found the source in the src.rpm ;) I was just curious whether there was already something newer in a Subversion repository (or similar). I finally managed to hack a patch -- it works now, at least up to now and for me (mapping OES drives with the Novell client for SLE10). YMMV, I'm not a kernel hacker. Patch is attached above (110703), it simply removes the tasklist_lock which has been removed from vanilla in 2.6.18 (or before, but definitely between SUSE 10.1/SLE10 and openSUSE 10.2). AJ, you're a seasoned kernel hacker, maybe you could have a quick look ;) As a side note, to be able to install the Novell client 1.2 that is (only) provided for SLE10, I also had to package a backport of binutils-2.16.91.0.5 for openSUSE 10.2 (it just installs libbfd-2.16.91.0.5.so and libopcodes-2.16.91.0.5.so side-by-side with the binutils package of 10.2). It will be available in my repository [1] in a few hours after the next sync: http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/suser-guru/rpm/packages/Libraries/binutils-compat-s... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226033 ------- Comment #9 from guru@unixtech.be 2006-12-21 08:59 MST ------- BTW I first tried to just add an export for tasklist_lock but that caused a null pointer kernel oops as it is really gone on 2.6.18. Then I tried to replace read_lock(&tasklist_lock); ... read_unlock(&tasklist_lock); with rcu_read_lock(); ... rcu_read_unlock(); but that caused an "ls" in /var/opt/novell/nclmnt/ to hang. Finally, removing the lock altogether works fine (openSUSE 10.2 final, IA32, default kernel). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

For releasing this as an update, we need a patchinfo - and for that you need a SWAMP-ID first. Next time ask me (via NEEDINFO aj@novell.com) for a SWAMPID and I'll start then the release process. For example: To fix a bug for sles9-sp3: 1. Only begin your work if you get a bugzilla and a swamp-id (this is what you get from the project manager of SLES9) 2. getpac -r sles9 3. (fix package) 4. submitpac -dr sles9-beta (enter the bugzilla-id in the chancelog) 5. edit_patchinfo 6. Don't forget to fill-out the swampid and the bugzilla-id. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226033 ------- Comment #37 from moorewr@eckerd.edu 2007-03-27 09:08 MST ------- Please post that bug ID here -- I'm sure many of us are interested in following this.
