[Bug 466078] New: updating sun java makes all timezone stop working for running java apps
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=466078 Summary: updating sun java makes all timezone stop working for running java apps Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Java AssignedTo: bnc-team-java@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: meissner@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: gsexton@mhsoftware.com Found By: Customer Since the java timezones are in versioned directories: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.u11/jre/lib/zi/Pacific/Tongatapu . similar for 1.5.0-sun and 1.4.2-sun updating the jvm will break timezone retrieval for all current programs. Is this really necessary? Do we need the update version in there? Or will there only every be one 1.5.0-sun installed? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

All JVM are intended to be installed in a last available version, so having an update version in the directory doesn't make a sense. BTW: Fedora uses a /usr/lib/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0, but I suppose that java-1.6.0-%{origin} should be OK. %{origins} means sun|ibm|openjdk|icedtea|bea|gcj in SUSE :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
