[Bug 1056950] New: Plasma often hangs during shutting down computer, rebooting, logging in to system and sometimes during use.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1056950 Bug ID: 1056950 Summary: Plasma often hangs during shutting down computer, rebooting, logging in to system and sometimes during use. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: premislaus1988@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 739229 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=739229&action=edit journalctl_02.09.2017 This issue is similar to my old and currently resolved bug report - https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1018976 . Plasma behavior: 1. During startup it can not display SDDM (rarely). 2. After entering password SDDM crashes (or hang, or freeze): does not go to the desktop, sometimes splash screen does not turn off, there is also a wallpaper and the panel, but then it gets gray (composer may hang). 3. When the computer is restarted or shut down, the process is terminated and a console login prompt appears. However, nothing can be typed. In general, you can not enter TTY. Sometimes there is a splash screen and nothing happens. 4. Even if I can get into TTY, sometimes I can not restart my computer - it hangs. I'm using the power button. 5. Sometimes Plasma hangs, reboots or freezes. There is no way to enter TTY. Despite all this, Plasma can work properly for many hours. Then in the systemd journal appears information's about segfautls. It seems to me that more often it occurs, when the computer is heavily loaded. For example many tabs opened in Firefox. I have no idea how to debug it. I think that this may be some types of bugs in gpu driver (r600g). However, I have been using Ubuntu for months on this machine. I had no problems. Similarly openSUSE with lightweight window managers (i3wm). Except that I did the minimal installation with the X server and slowly installed the missing programs. Today after two weeks of problems I decided to report a bug. Besides, I reinstalled cleanly Tumbleweed. Unfortunately did not help. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
