[Bug 1069562] New: Kernel Oops when starting a QEMU/KVM virtual machine after upgrading to kernel 4.14
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1069562 Bug ID: 1069562 Summary: Kernel Oops when starting a QEMU/KVM virtual machine after upgrading to kernel 4.14 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KVM Assignee: kvm-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: gorgoglione@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 749852 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=749852&action=edit kernel oops After updating my Tumbleweed box to snapshot 20171120, the first one with kernel 4.14, I'm not able to start QEMU/KVM guests anymore. Steps to reproduce: - Open Virtual Machine Manager and start any virtual machine - Nothing happens, the guest status remains "Shutdown", the guest CPU load indicator goes to a flat minimum value - The kernel log displays the oops trace in attachment. Rolling back by box to the latest snapshot with kernel 4.13, everything works fine again. Best regards, Giuseppe. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, that might be it. But the original bug is now fixed.
Actually today, after rebooting, I forgot to stop apparmor service before starting a virtual machine and I got back a kernel oops once again, even with updated libvirt. Rebooting and repeating (including not stopping apparmor) I got no oops and just the usual error from Virtual Machine Manager. So it's kinda not deterministic.
You should create a new one for the apparmor update, if there is none yet.
I'll do that. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The fixed kernel will reference this bugzilla ID in the changelog, BTW.
I'm looking forward to testing it, thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
