https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=392828 Summary: openSUSE-11.0-Beta3-KDE4-LiveCD-i386.iso doesn't detect SONY E430 monitor. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 3 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: atolboo@hotmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Other When I start the livecd I get the first green opensuse screen with the progressionbar. The moment it should switch to the green screen with the horizontal black bar the monitor shows the following: Monitor is working. I didn't have this problem with Suse 10.0/10.1/10.2/10.3 I don't have this problem with a HP Ergo 1280 D2840A monitor. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

this looks pretty good to me so what is wrong ?
For me, as a non-expert, it also looks good. But the monitor shows: Monitor is working. Input: 604 kHz / 41 Hz OUT OF SCAN RANGE. And that is all there is on the monitor. I think this 41 Hz is the PROBLEM. At this moment I can only install Suse 11.0 with the HP Ergo 1280 D2840A monitor connected. And after installation replace the HP with the SONY monitor. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

sorry but all this information is from the DDC record of the monitor.
I'm afraid we need to check our DDC detection here. The Xserver does a better job here. (II) NV(0): Ranges: V min: 48 V max: 170 Hz, H min: 30 H max: 96 kHz, PixClock max 220 MHz (II) NV(0): Monitor name: CPD-E430 (II) NV(0): Serial No: 6004900
I have added a CDB entry to fix the values:

Marcus, I don't see *any* code in sysp dealing with minimum frequencies, only with maximum. That said, I don't know why such a low frequency mode is selected, normally all subsystems go for the maximal possible frequency... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
