Further test on my system show that I had a disk mount failure before the repeated journal messages. The mount failure was on an ext4 (bios raid) disk just after /home was mounted. I was able to test this as had just applied opensuse-2013-973 and my system once again hung on boot. The symptoms appear to be the same as the boot failure I see after applying opensuse-2013-957. The only way I know to recover from this, as my system no longer boots, is to reinstall (update) openSUSE 13.1 from DVD and reapply all online package updates, excluding both opensuse-2013-957 and opensuse-2013-973. Perhaps this additional information helps? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I disabled the disk mount at boot, installed opensuse-2013-957, and booted successfully. I also installed opensuse-2013-973 and booted successfully. I then reconfigured my disks to once again mount at boot, and booted successfully. This has resolved my issue. Please run as root
ldconfig -r /System-SuSe-13-1
and try to boot your openSUSE 13.1, if this works reboot several times to see if this is stable.
Yesterday I entered the command ldconfig -r /System-SuSe-13-1 and I had the same problem. So I decided to update my system with the installation CD for OpenSuse 13.1. After that I installed the large bundle of updates and after reboot I had the same problem. I must mention that there was OpenSuse 12.2 installed on the partitions sdb2 and sdb3 where now the new 13.1 resides. But I had no problem with this installation. The problems arose when I updated with opensuse-2013-957. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
