[Bug 217971] New: pixelview tv tuner problem
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=217971 Summary: pixelview tv tuner problem Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 1 Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vkhaitan@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I have Prolink Pixelview Pro2(M4500) tv tuner. It was working fine with SUSE-10.1. KRadio worked. However after installing 10.2beta1, kradio stopped recognizing the v4l radio interface. So I cant play radio at all. Also, I have remote which is not working(in any of the version). Although I have got /dev/input/ir interface through the driver. After several testings(with bttv_debug=1) I found that my remote response is that dmesg shows correct key with "poll up" messages only. No poll down. And finally My remote in non-working. Solution? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=217971 ------- Comment #1 from vkhaitan@gmail.com 2006-11-04 09:17 MST ------- Apart from kradio, the problem is not KDE specific, instead v4l specific. The KRadio finally has worked. It was plugin problem. In SUSE-10.1, kradio automatically loaded plugin from the plugin directory. In this one, you had to manually add thenm one by one. Then also because of some bug, they are only list in plugin interface, but not actually loaded. After a bit of tussel and manually editing kradiorc, I got it working. So, you require to overcome these glitches. One note is that I am comparing 10.1 32 bit with 10.2 beta1 64 bit. Second thing, I use card=72 tuner=38 option. They are not autodetected, hence I require to fill it in. The autodetection says BTTV_UNKNOWN. So this require to be checked up. Searching the internet shows that a lot of people got this problem. The remote problem is same in all the version 10.1-10.2beta1. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Did you configure your tv card with yast? You can specify the card and tuner settings in the "Expert Settings" dialog. Some card cannot be autodetected because there is no way to distinguish them from other cards. I don't know if this is the case here. Can you attach the output of hwinfo? In Comment #1 you are saying that there is a plugin problem. Are you talking about the kradio plugins here or do you mean the kernel modules? If this is really a kradio problem can you please tell me if the solution you described still makes it work with openSUSE 10.2 final and what fixes you needed to make. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I know about expert settings, but if a person find out what will work, wont he manually edit them? So I manually edited the modprobe options in modprobe.d directory. hwinfo --tv 22: PCI 501.0: 11200 TV Card [Created at pci.286] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_109e_36e Unique ID: Ikk3.bJ31E5obFa9 Parent ID: 6NW+.NiX3vIdArFF SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1e.0/0000:05:01.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:05:01.0 Hardware Class: tv card Model: "Brooktree Bt878" Vendor: pci 0x109e "Brooktree Corporation" Device: pci 0x036e "Bt878" Revision: 0x11 Driver: "bttv" Driver Modules: "bttv" Memory Range: 0xdfefe000-0xdfefefff (rw,prefetchable) IRQ: 233 (no events) Module Alias: "pci:v0000109Ed0000036Esv00000000sd00000000bc04sc00i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: bttv is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe bttv" Config Status: cfg=yes, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #14 (PCI bridge) I was talking about kradio plugins. Yes, My solution still works in opensuse-10.2. The point is that , If I edit kradiorc manually, wont it work? Sometimes, kradio write wrong count of plugins(=0 ), although it lists the name of plugins in kradiorc. So, it doesn't load them next time it is run, so then I just set the count correct in kradiorc. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

May be it is because of upgrading kradio or may be that was because of special sequence of behaviour which I dont remember now. Anyway, first startup after installatio with no-plugin-loaded is not acceptable. You have to load plugins manually.
