[Bug 489026] New: Non Automated System Fails when Network Manager is changed in Preference to Default IFUP whilst Maintaining DHCP and Other Network Defaults
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=489026 Summary: Non Automated System Fails when Network Manager is changed in Preference to Default IFUP whilst Maintaining DHCP and Other Network Defaults Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009022800 SUSE/3.0.7-1.1.6 Firefox/3.0.7 When a user uses a NON-Automated Install of KDE 4.0 the Network Configuration is presented with many default such as DHCP. If the user changed the default IFUP and Enables Network Manager NO Internet connection will be created. If the user accepts the default IFUP there will be no problem in creating a Network connection. In the unlikely even that this bug cannot be duplicated I will supply YAST2 logs - however my test PC will need to be re-trashed and a new V11.1 KDE v4.0 installed and changes made about to capture my Yast logs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start V11.0 Non Automated KDE 4 Installation 2.At Network Installation phase change only the default IFUP and enable Network Manager 3.Continue as normal PC will fail on test Internet connection and further online updates due to no Internet configuration can be made using a combination of Network Manager and DHCP where all DHCP Services do exist on Lan Actual Results: The Internet Connection heck will fail and creating a Update server will fail and online update will fail Expected Results: Both Network Manager and IFUP should be able to provide a DHCP IP where complete DHCP Services are available on LAN In the unlikely even that this bug cannot be duplicated I will supply YAST2 logs - however my test PC will need to be re-trashed and a new V11.0 KDE v4.0 installed to attach my yast logs. It would be more time effective to reproduce this Installation bug, however in the unlikely event that this cannot be duplicated I will supply logs -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That command is run automatically at the end of installation (but not on upgrade, which is unfortunate, but documented in the release notes). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
