[Bug 1089367] New: Kernel 4.16 problem with ACPI on Acer HW
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1089367 Bug ID: 1089367 Summary: Kernel 4.16 problem with ACPI on Acer HW Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: akasroua@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 766973 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=766973&action=edit Full dmesg log Since the upgrade to kernel 4.16, I can boot into X11 but ACPI seems to be flawed. I can't power off, or reboot the computer (force shutdown with the power button) and also the touchpad doesn't seem to be working, I think it's related to the whole ACPI problem as it's not even detected by xinput or libinput. I've attached the whole dmesg log, and I'm going to paste the relevant error lines: [ 0.237476] acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC: OS supports [ExtendedConfig ASPM ClockPM Segments MSI] [ 0.237682] acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC failed (AE_ERROR); disabling ASPM [ 17.246619] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure looking up [\_TZ.TZ00._PSL.TCNT], AE_NOT_FOUND (20180105/psargs-364) [ 17.246637] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed \_TZ.TZ00._PSL, AE_NOT_FOUND (20180105/psparse-550) [ [ 18.498147] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/pre-cal-pci-0000:02:00.0.bin failed with error -2 [ 18.498180] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/cal-pci-0000:02:00.0.bin failed with error -2 [ 18.498237] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0/firmware-6.bin failed with error -2 [ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

ACPI errors are likely red herring. There are other bugs, and they may be already addressed recently.
Could you try the kernel in OBS home:tiwai:bnc1088658 repo? http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tiwai:/bnc1088658/standard/
I can confirm that everything works flawlessly after using your kernel, I hope your patches will hit upstream soon! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
