Also, my mobo allows me to turn off the additional cores. I tried that also to no effect. You ask "Are you seeing *any* post-bootloader..." As I said earlier, I've pointed a video camera at it (the time from the grub screen going away to "no signal" from the monitor is approximately 1/2 second) and saw nothing. It may be that the failure comes before any log messages. Machine has become seriously flaky - not sure if boot drive isn't causing all the problems. I'm going to spend today replacing it and reinstalling 11.3. I'll be back later. Thought question. I understand I'm giving you a "your software is broken somehow, fix it" problem without some logs, particularly if it's blowing up before any logging takes place. I'm willing to take xen, add a LOT of additional debug logging and install it if you think this might help.
